Under Siege

Hello Faith Followers,

I know it has been a good minute...a good (five hundred, twenty-five thousand, six hundred minutes...remember that song)...I digress. At any rate, good to be writing again.

Just stopping by to share a hopefully encouraging word with not only you, but myself as well.

My pastor returned to church after his summer break and decided to teach a lesson series entitled, "Under Siege". First thought to my mind was the movie with Steven Seagal...(yeah where is my mind at church) but refocus. He showed us a clip of all of the latest social assaults on family, marriage, right to life, race, police, schools, and other political views in two minutes. Wow, talk about overwhelmed or possibly underwhelmed.

Why do I say underwhelmed...? Because nowadays, everything is so in your face all day, everyday that it just seems to blend into the 'norm'.

However, that is not acceptable, nor does God want us to be normal. He called us to be 'a royal priesthood, chosen generation, and peculiar people' (1 Peter 2:9). So why aren't we and why are we confronted or left isolated when we try to do so?

I tell you, these last few weeks in different areas of my life, there has been some moments where I have not lived up to that calling and felt the pressure of being 'under seige'. I was probably a royal pain in the butt, chosen to leave out of the loop and peculiar in an less than gracious way but this was probably from the perspective of those of whom I was acting 'out of my norm'.

Yet, in a time of being under siege, one needs to be strategic and calculating. I refer to the Proverbs written by King Solomon, one of the wisest men in the bible. He writes in Proverbs 4:1-13 on getting wisdom and understanding, which are two important things to have when you are being attacked or 'under siege' because they will protect you and guide you, 'causing you not to stumble' (12b).

Just like my life verse of Proverbs 3:5-6, I will continue to trust in the Lord and not lean to my own understanding because my understanding can be marred by my flesh, which in turn often makes things end up not so right. In my walk I have had to learn, time and time again to let His understanding guide my path and my actions, even when 'under siege'. As the bible says in Ephesians 6:12, 'we wrestle not against flesh and blood' but seems like it in the moment, but it is against 'spiritual forces in heavenly places'. And again, if we stand our ground, use wisdom and His word, they will flee or God will make us a way of escape. (1 Corinthians 10:13)

So I hope you too will also get your daily dose of wisdom and understanding during your daily quiet time in your bible, devotional or maybe prayer or praise and worship. Whatever the means, just get it in...like the pastor says, you're either going through, coming out or getting ready to be under attack so when you are 'under siege' you will not faint, but ready to stand.

Peace and blessings to all...until we meet again!!!
